Baba Blanket Supports and Helps Girls in Ghana Finish High School

Since June 2000, the Baba Blanket initiative has been supporting women in Ghana by relieving women from extremely strenuous and laborious like kaya yo, which involves carrying heavy loads from dusk till dawn without appropriate living arrangements.

Inspired by the strength of the people while she was visiting Ghana, E. Aminata Brown created Baba Blanket, which teaches women how to sew the unique blankets. Aside from reinvesting proceeds from the Baba Blanket back into the social enterprise, the organization also donates a part of its profits to support their other initiative established in 2007, Stay-In School Tuition Assistance (SISTA). The program supports and helps girls in Ghana finish high school, nurturing and providing hope for the next generation and generations to come.
