Skinveda's Ayurvedic Skincare Targets Different Types of Doshas

Using her east-Indian background and a Master's degree in Organometallic Chemistry, Shilpi Jain created Skinveda, a line of Ayurvedic skincare products.

In the Ayurveda, the 5,000-year-old sister science to yoga, it is believed that every individual contains three different elements that make up the body's constitution. When one is more dominant than the others, there are imbalances in the body. In order to address these issues, Skinveda uses plant-based ingredients to deliver remedies for Vata, Pitta and Kapha dosha types. As well as catering to people who identify with the traits of these doshas, there are specific face masks, skin serums and cleansers designed for those who are familiar with the combinations that are most familiar to them. For instance, the Amlaki Chamomila Cleansing Gelée is recommended for a Pitta-Kapha types, which tend to have either oily or combination skin.
