Autel by Mr & Mr, a design studio founded by Alexis Lautier and Pierre Talagrand and based in Montpellier, France, is a contemporary home alter that is customizable to individual needs and wants. Made up of a hybrid of materials including a metal surface and rope (or chain), it is meant to be mounted onto the wall like a shelf. Yet the metal has been poked with a slew of holes along its perimeter so that the rope can be threaded through in a variety of ways.
Comprised of three models, Autel by Mr & Mr is meant to display personal objects and souvenirs of day to day life. Talagrand reveals, "We are not religious, but we think an altar is cultural and social and it somehow speaks to our contemporary, personal mythologies."
