Atypique by Zooco Estudio is an Interior Redesign of a Specialty Café

Atypique by Zooco Estudio reworks the ground-floor interior of the historic Siboney building in Santander into a contemporary artisan workshop and specialty coffee space. The project adapts a corner location with two façades marked by semi-circular arch openings, using curved and fragmented volumes to echo the expressionist and Art Deco language of the existing exterior. Interior geometry and circular elements are used to define programmatic zones, including service counters, seating, and workshop areas, while creating a continuous spatial sequence.

The design references the building’s cylindrical forms, horizontal bands, and porthole details through curved surfaces and compositional motifs drawn from those historical features. The materials and finishes in Atypique combine smooth plastered walls with oak wood furniture and detailing that articulate circulation and gathering spaces. The layout accommodates flexible use of the café and workspace, with lighting and architectural elements shaped to guide movement and focus within the interior.
