Artsy Overcast Installations

The Asif Khan Cloud Project Stimulates Shaded Conversations

Since clouds inspire imagination and even creativity, I am not surprised that they are often replicated in some form in the art world; take the Asif Khan Cloud as the perfect example. This stunning art installation was created not only to encourage imagination, but also to stimulate conversation.

Created for Design Miami this year as part of the W Hotel's Conversation Pieces exhibition, the Asif Khan Cloud art installation is actually as abstract as the clouds it replicates. Made out of helium, soap and water, the soapy bubbles rise into the air, only to be caught by a wire net.

The result is that the Asif Khan Cloud installation becomes "an architectural experiment into what’s the simplest way to create a shaded space where conversations can happen," as the designer puts it.
