This Exhibit Features an Artificial Sky Made Out of Umbrellas

Artist Kaisa Berry and creative director Timo Berry recently designed an artificial sky made from an abundance of floating umbrellas. Many people have experienced the feeling of having their umbrella float away in high winds. This exhibit recreates the same experience with the use of hundreds of white umbrellas.

The duo designed the installation for the 'Ahead Arena' at Finland’s 2015 'Habitare Design Fair.' The poetic exhibit consists of an artificial sky made up of 1,100 white umbrellas. The exhibit is suspended above the main stage, providing the perfect backdrop for the acrobatic show taking place underneath. The surreal exhibit is meant to recreate the illusion of a fairytale as the aerial acrobats fly across the stage.

The ambitious project demonstrates how common household objects can be used to create a whimsical backdrop.
