Soviet Suburb Photography

This Architecture Photography Series is Sombre and Conflicting

Showing a sombre beauty in what most would find ugly, Russian photographer Alexander Gronsky takes us on a journey in his communist-style architecture photography series.

Soviet architecture is both known for it's avant-garde Moscow gems and for its old-fashioned government-like buildings. But that is not the main focus of Gronsky's series. In the architecture photography series, Gronsky’s captures the grey areas where the city meets the countryside.

"I always enjoy these borderline and kind of undefined areas and I just wanted to present them in a very sweet and romantic way," says Gronsky.

Not trying to make a statement or define anything with his series, the photographer wants to leave it open for interpretation from the view.

"Definitions are what obscures a lot of meaning you can get from an image," says Gronsky.
