The Apple GymKit Connects the Smart Wearable to Cardio Equipment

The Apple GymKit was recently introduced to Australia, making it possible for smartwatch wearers to instantly sync their workout data between their device and workout equipment.

With a tap of their smartwatch, Apple Watch users are now able to connect to various pieces of GymKit equipment and use NFC to automatically send and collect data. On a connected treadmill, a user is able to receive heart rate data, as well as calories burned during a workout session to create a precise weight calculation. As well as relaying biometric data, the Apple GymKit also takes note of inclines and pauses that are used during a workout.

Following a workout, the Apple Watch saves all relevant information without the use of an iPhone, while the pieces of cardio equipment are wiped free of personal data.
