Orchard-Inspired Soundtracks

For Apple Day, Borough Market Created a Unique Musical Composition

Apple Day is an annual celebration of apples and orchards that takes place in the UK to mark the British Apple Harvest in the month of October. In acknowledgment of the tradition this year, Borough Market created a "symphony that mirrors the apple-ripening process."

To create the unique recording, composer Andrew Consoli transformed the sounds of the natural orchard environment into a melody after measuring factors such as nitrogen levels in soul, temperature, sunlight, rainfall and more. To pay homage to the fact that a traditional harvest runs for about 145 days from beginning to end, the unique composition boasts 145 beats per minute.

The apple-inspired soundtrack is available to listen to on Soundcloud, giving the public the chance to listen to the way that apples grow in a way like never before.
