The Appartmento AL Takes Industrial Chic to the Minimalist Extreme

While the converted commercial loft is not the ideal dwelling for a number of people, many would still be able to appreciate the success of the Appartmento AL in Lombardi, Italy. Designed by Archiplan Studio, this collection of compelling interiors is accessorized principally by the honest exposure of structural elements.

Haphazard brickwork is visible in most rooms of the flat, telling a story of how the building was altered over time, as seen through the interruptions in the repetitive masonry. A whitewash of paint tidies up these rough walls, as well as an original wooden ceiling overhead. Bulky wooden beams are showcased without opaque finishes, alluding to the notion of natural in juxtaposition to the artificial architectural aspects. The Appartmento AL is further enhanced with a cargo skid bed frame, metal light fixtures and slatted timber shutters.
