New York-based architecture firm DFA has conceptualized a series of budget-friendly apartment towers for a pier in Manhattan. According to the designers, the proposed structures will be able to withstand rising sea levels. The complex is designed to fit on the square-shaped Pier 40 and it will include recreational and commercial facilities alongside the livable apartments -- a total of 450 individual units. The cylinder-shaped apartment towers are "high-rises, wrapped in golden net-shaped window frames and planting."
