Ann Hamilton Creates a Dazzling 55,000 Square-Foot Playground

Visual artist Ann Hamilton change NYC Park Avenue Armory into a 55,000 square-foot playground.

'The Event of a Thread' exhibit is made up of 42 swaying swing displays, which visitors are actually able to sit and take a swing through the air on. The purpose of the exhibition is not for the purpose of having adults feel like kids again, it was also created as a way to connect humans together. Aside from the swings, the exhibit also features a giant white curtain that is controlled by the swings motions as well as readings, sound schemes and 42 pigeons. The set up of the art display is to create an emotional experience and sense of connectivity between the artwork and the guests.
