E-Retailer Travel Sites

Amazon Destinations is the Latest Project from the Online Marketplace

Amazon Destinations is the latest project launched by the e-retail giant that is the brand's first expansion into online travel resources. Following in the tradition of Airbnb, Amazon Destinations aims to help consumers find accommodations for driveable distances.

A branch of Amazon Local, the new site lists three possible destinations; Southern California, the Pacific Northwest and the Northeast. Amazon Destinations currently only lists hotels, resorts and bed & breakfasts.

Since it is currently serving only three metropolitan areas, Amazon Destinations is sure to expand nationwide if the new website is well-received. In expanding into this burgeoning industry, Amazon is hoping to capitalize on the inclination of many to take short leisurely trips to destinations within driving distance.
