Alexis Rockman Paints the Impact of Climate Change

Alexis Rockman is an American contemporary artist who is well known for painting depictions of future landscapes. Alexis Rockman is using his artistic talents to portray the impacts of climate change on our world as well as evolution influenced by genetic engineering.

The brightly colored paintings feature mutated animals such as a rabbit with three ears, fish that look like bird-lizards and rodents with wings. I like the fact that Alexis Rockman's art makes you think about the changes that are happening to our world and what the outcomes may be. One of my favorite paintings from the series is the one featuring the destroyed Hollywood sign that is over-grown with weeds. Perhaps these paintings could possibly predict the not-so-far-distant future.
