Mutant Nature Portraits (UPDATE)

Alexandra Bellissimo ‘Simulations’ Series is Haunting

Photographer Alexandra Bellissimo creates mystical surreal portraits that combine humans and nature in her series ‘Simulations.’ She uses the naked body as a canvas for her creations, adding images of plants to each person.

Her creations are made from photos she’s taken of people and of nature. She then collages the two together to make emotionally filled artworks. Some of the images are slightly more dark and disturbing than others.

Every photo is done in black and white, adding an extra element of gloominess. Bellissimo takes away a limb or the face of the model and replaces it with sticks, rocks, stalactites and plants.

This is definitely an evocative photo series that’s worth checking out.
