AI-Generated Statues

The Impossible Statue is the First Created by Artificial Intelligence

The Impossible Statue is a human-shaped stainless steel sculpture and it's significant for being the world's first-ever AI-generated statue.

The five-foot sculpture generated by artificial intelligence was made possible by technology consultancy The AI Framework and engineering firm Sandvik, and visitors of the National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm, Sweden can appreciate this groundbreaking work of art and technology.

To those with a keen eye for art, some aspects of the sculpture will seem familiar and that's because the statue takes cues from the creations of iconic artists like Michelangelo, Käthe Kollwitz and Takamura Kotaro. In all, an AI was trained on the works of five artists to unite different ways of expressing musculature, naturalism, movement and boldness. The finished product is an androgynous figure holding an object that resembles a globe.
