Op Art-Inspired Lights

These Adjustable Lamps Create Optical Illusions with Overlapping Sections

These spherical adjustable lamps hang from the ceiling while casting different shadows from an overlapping mesh pattern. The pendant lamps are designed by Luis Arivillaga, who was inspired by the famous op artist, Victor Vasarely.

The caged ball is made from long black wires that wrap around to meet each other's ends. Against a white wall, the lamp appears to be a striped object that is similar to typical optical illusion art. The balls are made from two half spheres that can be adjusted in many ways from a full sphere to half, and anywhere in between.

The black adjustable lamps hang from a bright red string, giving the lighting a very unique style that is meant to be a statement piece.
