Oshinowo Studio Designs the New adidas Store in Lagos

Nigerian architecture firm Oshinowo Studio completes the design of the latest adidas store location in Lagos, Nigeria. It is notably the brand's first flagship store to open in West Africa and can be found in the Victoria Island business district. It takes over what was once a concrete building that was first built in the 1970s and features an extended steel and glass addition. At the front-facing detail are the corrugated aluminum sheet facades that were often used as roofs in the city.

Founder of Oshinowo Studio, Tosin Shinowo tells Dezeen, "In line with the monolith simplicity emblematic of our practice aesthetic, we referenced the humble corrugated roofing sheets widely used across the city but most notably in the floating community Makoko on the Lagos lagoon. We felt drawing a local and global narrative for this project was essential, acknowledging the city's thriving upcycling and reuse culture."
