The 'Helpmet' was created by BBDO Bangkok in partnership with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation to connect injured riders to an accident response team as soon as it senses a crash.
The motorcycle helmet has shock-detecting technology that alerts the device to contact accident response and provide them with the rider's location using GPS. As Ad Week reports, the helmet sends a text message to the Thai National Emergency Center, notifying them the location of the crash. With this, paramedics will have a shorter response time and riders rendered unconscious will not be completely helpless in the event of a crash.
With Thailand said to have the "second highest rate for motorcycle accidents in the world," the two companies looked for a way to make the vehicles safer and prevent further fatalities.
