These stunning works of art do not look like hulls of docked ships, which is exactly what photographer Frank Hallam Day wanted from his new series of abstract photography.
The DC-based photographer is able to portray these old ships in such a painterly quality, giving the abstract photography series a very aesthetic look that he is able to harmoniously mix an old world culture and modern feel into perfectly.
Day's 'Hulls' series was shot in old and forgotten ship harbors in Nigeria and Cameroon.
"I was working in Lagos, Nigeria, and somehow I found out about the huge number of wrecked and dead ships beached in the backwaters of the harbor. I’ve always been fascinated both by ships and by images of wreckage and dissolution, so I was very interested," says Day.
