Lisbon studio Paratelier cast a concrete house in the same pine wood panels that make up its interior. Inside, the panels have been planed and used as floorboards, walls and built-in furniture. The project reused 93% of the wood material. The ascending stairwell reveals the building's construction, "with the bare concrete walls on one side facing the timber in which it was cast on the other."
Located in the Portuguese town of Palmela, the home offers views of a nearby medieval castle. In fact, the architects took a cue from the surrounding architecture when they designed the monolithic form, which is colored in an ochre hue that recalls quintessential tile roofs.
Visitors enter the home through a double-height entrance which is flooded with natural light from the patio doors and windows.
