Virtual Emergency Assistance Apps

The Emergency Response App Assists 911 Operators

Not everyone knows CPR, but now you can be even more prepared in the event of a medical emergency. This emergency app allows 911 operators to virtually appear on the scene to assist distressed people.

The University of North Texas developed the app to give emergency operators the ability to manipulate the smartphone from a distance to the distressed person’s benefit. Operators can control features such as camera angles, texts messaging and speakerphone. They can also measure the patient’s heart rate and/or blood pressure.

To determine whether or not the patient is in need of CPR, you can lay the smartphone on the patient's chest for the emergency operators to receive depth monitoring and compression rate.
