Dimension Polymers' Additive Print Material Uses Recycled Plastic

Although additive printing means that there are endless possibilities to create whatever you can imagine, plastic 3D printing filaments are incredibly wasteful and taxing on the environment. Knowing that 3D printing will only continue to grow in the future, Dimension Polymers developed a sustainable solution to this issue.

Currently raising funds as a project on Kickstarter, the startup is introducing the first ever professionally recycled 3D printing filament made from 95% recycled ABS plastic. Another big issue tackled by Dimension Polymers was to create packaging that could also be recycled, further reducing the amount of waste in the world.

While it is now possible to print with filaments derived from natural materials like clay, iron and stone, these require separate extruders—so this recycled plastic filament is pretty cost-effective.
