KFC Partnered with 3D Bioprinting Solutions on Synthetic Chicken

KFC recently entered into a partnership with 3D Bioprinting Solutions, a company based out of Moscow, to create a lab-grown chicken nugget. 3D Bioprinting Solutions developed technology to use chicken cells and plant material to replicate chicken. The technology can produce a product that has the same taste and texture of chicken. KFC indicates that the lab-grown chicken could be implemented at QSR locations beginning in fall 2020, where the product will be tested in Moscow.

KFC states that producing lab-grown chicken is more environmentally friendly, as it requires less farm and also reduces greenhouse emissions. Additionally, many consumers may be partial toward purchasing lab-grown meat products, as it provides a more ethical option that doesn't rely on animal farming.
