The 360cam is Raising the Bar When It Comes to 360-Degree Cameras

A group of young French engineers and developers created the 360cam, a spectacular and compact video camera that has a 360 x 300 degree field of view and can shoot high-quality video at 2048 x 1024 at 30 frames per second. The developers took to Kickstarter to raise funds for the 360cam and incredibly, it surpassed its $150,000 funding goal within 24 hours.

The pear-shaped 360cam uses three overlapping 185-degree fish-eye lenses to capture 360 degree video, which is stitched together inside the device itself in real time. The 360cam is also capable of taking panoramic 8-megapixel still shots at three frames per second. The device outputs video in the form of MP4 files and still photographs in JPG formats.

The 360cam is very compact and lightweight, weighing in at only 180 grams.
