The 2013 World Bodypainting Festival is Elaborately Otherworldly

If someone stumbled upon the 2013 World Bodypainting Festival without a clue as to what was happening, he or she may have run off screaming something like, 'Aliens! Aliens!,' to the chagrin of those participating and attending. Of course, that reaction is understandable considering the otherworldly costumes on display. More than costumes, the painted bodies are works of art that could be put on display in a gallery.

Held earlier this month in Pörtschach am Wörthersee, Austria, the 2013 World Bodypainting Festival marked the 16th year of the event. Comprised of such categories as brush-sponge bodypaint, airbrushing, special effects bodypainting and face painting, the artists from 40 countries competed against each other to create the most eye-popping human art on earth. Elaborate and exotic, they will take anyone's breath away.
