Effortless Free-Flowing Homes

This 1960s Residence Has Been Completely Revamped

Mountford Architects renovated the 'Salter Point House,' a 1960s residence located in Salter Point, Western Australia.

Architect Ben Mountford busied himself with creating a home that "effortlessly flowed," accommodating all of the social areas onto a single level. The design plan features the kitchen as the central hub, making it perfect for entertainment purposes. The clients also have the option of hosting guests in either of the two covered outdoor spaces, located at opposite ends of the residence. In both cases, the roof is cantilevered with a pre-tensioned ridge beam. This process allowed the areas to be shaded by generous overhangs, creating a lovely outdoor porch setup.

The open gabled roof is another one of the home's defining characteristics, flanked by stone infill walls that help divide the interior spaces.
