Retail Moodboard

· 1:12

In short

The Retail Moodboard transforms visual collage and mood board formats into interactive shopping experiences. Trend Hunter's research finds that Amazon shut down its TikTok-style shopping feed this year, while Depop launched Outfits in September, Google introduced MixedBoard, and Adobe launched Firefly Boards as shoppable, collage-based tools. For retailers and commerce platforms, this creates an opportunity to build shopping around curation, identity, and inspiration rather than feed-based scrolling.

Amazon quietly shut down its TikTok-style shopping feed this year, but what's replacing it is kind of genius.

If you've spent any time online over the past couple of decades, you've likely come across Pinterest's iconic boards, spanning everything from room decor to dream trips and even fashion inspiration. Now, these visual collages are being transformed into interactive retail experiences. In September, Depop launched Outfits, where you build collage-style looks from real listings, and every single item is completely shoppable.

Then Google dropped MixedBoard, Adobe even launched Firefly Boards, and suddenly it feels like every company is racing to turn the humble mood board into a product. And here's why: scrolling gives you impressions, not purchases. Mood boards let you compose, and for some consumers, aesthetics are representative of their identity, and the curating aspect is the shopping. Envisioning something alongside colors, themes, and textures is often the gateway to inspiration.
