New York-based artist Yuken Teruya found a way to give life to disposable paper bags and other paper materials. Born in Japan, Teruya beautifully cuts and creates tree shapes into designer store bags, dollar bills, books and toilet paper rolls.
Using tiny pointy scissors, he carefully cuts pieces from the bags and shapes them into trees. Then he stands the trees inside the pack they were originally taken from. The hole where the cut-out-part was taken from becomes a window that allows for natural light to pierce into the bag, creating a mesmerizing visual effect of light and shadow. These tiny sculptures by Yuken Teruya demonstrate how art can be created out of the most simple and delicate of objects.
