Female-Empowering Streaming Platforms

The YouTube Spaces Program Puts Women's Voices First

Being Women's History Month and all, the news of the latest YouTube Spaces program comes at the perfect time. The dominating streaming platform has created the program in an effort to put female voices at the forefront. Created in partnership with the United Nations, it "will see a group of female creators advocating for gender equality as the first 'change ambassadors' for the United Nations' Sustainable Development Action campaign," writes The Verge.

An encouraging step that is using such profitable platforms for good, the YouTube Spaces program will diversify the content already on there while promoting an issue that is still very much present today. Currently six YouTubers — Anna Akana, Alexys Fleming, Julia Veiga Faria, Em Ford, Nilam Farooq and Kuma Miki — were chosen as creative directors in their respective YouTube Spaces and helped film over 50 videos including videos produced by Michelle Phan and GloZell.
