Affordable Arboreal Shades

The Yes Man Sunglasses are Handcrafted from Handpicked Bamboo

The Yes Man Sunglasses are the latest venture by Nathan Resnick, the college junior and entrepreneur behind Yes Man Watches. Resnick's latest product is a collection of bamboo sunglasses. Bamboo sunglasses are nothing new, but it's not necessarily the material that sets these shades apart -- it's the story of how they came to be.

Resnick, who speaks fluent Mandarin, spent two weeks in Shenzhen, China, touring sunglasses factories before meeting a bamboo farmer who lived in the countryside and the two decided to partner up. Each pair of sunglasses is made with handpicked bamboo that is then carefully sanded and shaped. The only automated part of the manufacturing is the creation of the plastic frames. Nowadays, it's rare for anything to be handmade, much less handmade from sustainable materials. Resnick's Yes Man Sunglasses reached its Kickstarter funding goal of $5,000, although there is still time left to donate to the campaign and score a discounted pair for $30.
