A minimalist clock-shaped wooden installation that can be best observed from an aerial view adorns the Vallée de Joux valley in the Swiss countryside. This piece is called 'Ephemeral Ring' and it was commissioned by the non-profit organization Vallée de Joux Tourisme. The artist behind this sizable wooden installation is Swiss designer Fabien Roy who utilized spruce wood for the temporary activation.
Ephemeral Ring marks the Tour de France, the annual men's bicycle race. This year, the event will take place in the Joux Valley and the Swiss tourist office wanted to mark this occasion. Cyclists will ride within 20 meters of the installation as part of the race on July 9th. Roy Fabien shares that his concept was designed "to promote the cultural, natural, and industrial heritage of the region in Switzerland."
