Wonder Woman Inspires Diane von Furstenberg

The Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC has everyone a buzz, especially since it comes at the same time that futurism and robots are a sartorial muse for many designers.

One of New York's most heralded fashion queens, Diane von Furstenberg, is one such designer. She says her latest capsule collection is a tribute to her personal favourite superhero, Wonder Woman.

It won't be released until around October (an accident that it coincides with Halloween?), but when it does become available, it's sure to be a hit. DvF has actually joined with DC Comics to make the project official.

"But apparently DVF's fascination with Wonder Woman predates the announcement of this year's Met Ball theme - she says she's kept a picture of the comic heroine in her notebook for years, and her staff even once gave her a framed photo of herself in the likeness of Wonder Woman as a gift," Fashionista says.

Although she's been excited to tout the fact the line will be adorned with sequins and Wonder Woman's symbolic stars, she also promises the fashions won't be limited to costume parties and that they'll actually be wearable pieces that will integrate well with stylish, modern wardrobes.

Speaking of the Met exhibit, the Costume Institute Gala Benefit is tonight, so tune in soon for an update on what the VIPs wore!
