Sophisticated Marble Jigsaws

The WL06 Puzzle by Joe Doucet Rethinks the Traditional Pastime

The WL06 Puzzle rethinks the traditional jigsaw game by giving it a sophisticated makeover. Although puzzles tend to target adults already, especially retired individuals looking for engrossing, physically-friendly pastimes to engage in, they are often kitschy and cliche.

Designed by Joe Doucet Studio, which is based in both New York and London, the WL06 Puzzle is neither. First of all, it does away with the typical cardboard material for something a lot more luxurious: marble. Second of all, perhaps because of the nature of the material used, the WL06 Puzzle is made up of geometric shapes in place of iconic puzzle pieces. Swipelife points out, "They are purely designed in the sculptural sense without losing its need to pose intellectual demand. In short, it proves that not everything you perceive simple is truly simple."
