Winnie Truong Creates Hair Filled Portraits With Great Detail

The drawings by Winnie Truong for her solo exhibition entitled 'Double Twist' are hairy and somewhat eerie. Based around portraits of people exaggeratedly covered in their own colorful and twisted hair, the illustrations are mesmerizing.

Winnie is a Toronto, Canada-born artist who studied at OCAD University for a Bachelor of Fine Art. She has showcased at a number of solo and group shows and art fairs across Canada and the U.S. Her work seems to stem from a fascination of hair, as it is the prominent force in most of her art.

The hair often covers mouths, faces and noses, and her recent series features hair that has been twisted. Each brush stroke can be seen in her portraits with such great detail that it is no wonder Winnie has been receiving so much attention for her work.
