Animated Digital Sculptures

'White Noise White Shores' Combines Fashion Photography and Animation

The White Noise White Shores animation could easily be interpreted as a contemporary dance, that is as soon as the human figure is realized in the abstract sculpture that first takes center stage. Yet this human figure doesn't move on its own, but as a whole within the sculpture. Utterly mesmerizing, the fluidity of the digital rendition is achieved through two art forms: fashion photography and 3D animation.

A collaborative effort between fashion photographer Per Zennstrom and 3D artist Thorsten Japser Weese, the White Noise White Shores animation was first shot in real life. The 40 to 50 images from that session were then stitched together using the free AutoDesk 123D Catch software. Zennstrom conducted the final editing in Premiere and After Effects for gorgeous results.
