Everyday Palestinian Photography

This West Bank Photography Series is Candid and Hopeful

Filled with irony, humor and a visual feast of human and nature interactions, this West Bank photography series of the daily life in Gaza, East Jerusalem is arresting and aesthetically striking.

Captured by East Jerusalem-based photographer Tanya Habjouqa, the series of images focuses on something aside from the ongoing conflict that we've come to see so often from this region. Instead, it shows us the people within the issue and how they go about living their daily lives.

"More than four million Palestinians live in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem, where the political situation regularly intrudes upon the most mundane of moments. This creates the strongest of desires for the smallest of pleasures, and a sharp sense of humor about the absurdities that a 47-year occupation has produced," says Habjouqa.

Habjouqa’s West Bank photography series is moving and shows viewers how people are all alike, all they want is to survive and find small pleasures in life.
