WAVES for Development is a sustainability-focused surf tourism company engaging tourists with community-based education and surf voluntourism programs that cover five pillars: Cultural Exchange and Understanding, Environmental Conservation, Life Skills/Healthy Living, Social Entrepreneurship, and Sustainable Tourism.
WAVES strongly believe that surf tourism should directly benefit and strengthen the communities where it happens, and that travel can be life-enriching as well as fun.
Dedicated to social responsibility and sustainable living, WAVES for Development originated in northern Peru in 2004, when a number of educated local and international surfers felt the desire to help local children with few resources learn how to surf. WAVES has been operating full-time Surf Voluntourism and Educational Surf Programs in Lobitos, Peru since November 2008.
