Floating Residential Pods

The WaterNest 100 is a Circular Pod-Like Residence

WaterNest 100 is a peculiar, circular pod-like structure that provides 100 square meters of living space in a futuristic but tranquil looking space. Designed by Italian architect Giancarlo Zema, this home is highly eco-friendly -- 98% of its structure is made out of recycled materials, while the home's energy needs are addressed by a rooftop solar array.

Zema says the idea for this home was inspired by the aquatic nests of water birds, which allow the birds to grow their babies in complete harmony with nature. "So I thought of designing something similar that can help us to embrace life and allow us to live a floating experience in a natural and energy saving habitat," Zema says.

WaterNest 100 shows that eco-friendly doesn't have to be boring. Indeed this home looks like a fantastic way to return to nature while still enjoying home comforts out on the water.
