Medicine Cabinet Murals

Wallpaper by Sara Asnaghi Incorporates Implanted Pill Bottles and Paint

There is a peculiar optical illusion happening in this wallpaper by Sara Asnaghi, whereby even a quick scan will reveal that the painted surfaces are not the typical flat. A collection of curious three dimensional objects has been glued to the otherwise smooth surfaces, requiring the pigmented panels to be treated along with them.

Pill bottles, pestles, eye droppers and capsules were halved by the artist and applied in thoughtful arrangements. There is a regularity to their orientations, following strict axes in either the horizontal or vertical directions.

This diligent deliberateness was no doubt maintained to complement the harmony and uniformity of the plywood boards' painted patterns. Wallpaper by Sara Asnaghi depicts playful renditions of traditional floral, modern geometric and bold timeless stripes over top of oddly shaped protrusions.
