Remote-Controlled Wall Mounted Bike Locks Discourage Thieves

Bicycle thieves beware; this innovative lock system by Dominic Chargreave hoists bikes up 8 feet in the air and safely out of the reach of nasty nabbers. The cradle is mounted on the wall and with a remote control the owner can raise and retrieve their bike with ease.

Chargreave also has thought of ways to have the bicycle locking system installed in public areas such as subways or shopping malls, by use of programmable oyster cards.

The 23-year-old Royal College of Art student developed the concept for an iQ Design Challenge hosted by Toyota focused around life in urban centers and was one of three winners.
