The 'Wakhan, An Other Afghanistan' series follows the locals in the village located at the northeastern corner of Afghanistan. The photo project, helmed by French photographers Fabrice Nadjari and Cedric Houin, was inspired by the knowledge that this part of the world is rarely visited by foreigners. With this in mind, they decided to capture the life and landscape of this remote village.
Armed with Impossible Project film, Polaroid cameras and their own DSLRs, the photographers first took Polaroid shots of the locals followed by digital shots as their subjects' held onto the first capture. Most of them had never seen photographs before, so their expressions of delight and bashfulness lend an endearing dimension to the Wakhan, An Other Afghanistan series.
