The Volkswagen Golf SportWagen HyMotion Has a Fuel Cell And Lithium-Ion Battery

The Volkswagen Golf SportWagen HyMotion is a demo car that illustrates Volkswagen's interesting approach of applying alternative drive systems to their existing high-production vehicles, rather than starting entirely from scratch by constructing completely new car models.

The Golf SportWagen HyMotion is equipped with a fuel cell as well as a 12-volt lithium-ion battery, in addition to an electric motor. The total power produced by this system is 100 KiloWatts.

As far as performance figures are concerned, the HyMotion can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 10 seconds.

The Volkswagen Golf SportWagen HyMotion still has some ways to go before it can become a commercially available production vehicle however, as it still requires better hydrogen infrastructure.
