As if the billions of people in the world were not Facebook-obsessed already, there had to be cars dedicated to the iconic site as seen with the Volkswagen Fanwagen. The Netherlands branch of the German car company had a vote on Facebook to see whether fans wanted the Bug or the T1 model to be Facebookified. They chose the iconic T1 model and it comes with all sorts of whacky, albeit retro Facebook features. For example, you can get the news feed on the dashboard but rather than it being displayed digitally, the feed is printed out on real live paper!
This is an interesting edition for Volkswagen. The real world has not quite capitalized on the popularity of Facebook, yet this car company is making a bold attempt to do so. It will be worth the wait to see how other 'real world' industries capitalize on the social media frenzy IRL, as done with the Volkswagen fanwagen.
