Kate and Ben Towell of design studio 'Basic Projects' own an eatery in Charleston, South Carolina and recently renovated it with vintage restaurant decor. The diner itself is situated within the historic district of the southern U.S. city and is surrounded by well-preserved, remarkable buildings in a large span of architectural styles—from Gothic Revival to Italian Renaissance.
The restaurant was previously a pizzeria with a very specious interior, large windows and a high ceiling. Basic Projects used this to its advantage to create a welcoming vintage restaurant decor with a newly installed "built-in bar with swivel metal bar stools," as well as "light wood communal tables and benches." Kate and Ben utilized a previously unused space for a cobblestone patio with plants, wooden furniture and white timber walls, creating a sunny and welcoming atmosphere for their future guests.
