Vinicius Quesada Uses Blood and Urine as His Work Supplies

Many artists never cease to find ways to shock audiences and to experiment with all kind of techniques to explore new realities and ways of expression, and an example of this is Brazilian artist Vinicius Quesada. The creative painter uses his own blood and urine to add a whole new layer of shock value, color and meaning to his paintings.

This series titled Blood Piss Blues is interesting not only because of the materials used, but also because of the way these bodily fluids create a beautiful layer of color. In an interview for the site My Modern Met, Quesada explains, "It starts with researching several photographs, so I can set the first collage. From this, I stencil the image on paper, usually with the three main colors of Blood Piss Blues, which are red, green/yellow and dark blue, as a reference to the RGB color system." The result is mind-blowing as these prints showcase a stunning range of colors that are vivid and rich, making these pop culture portraits one-of-a-kind.

Vinicius Quesada creates art that it's truly connected to his own body.
