Robotic Flower Pots

A Custom Vincross Hexa Can Ensure a Succulent's Survival

The Vincross Hexa was originally designed as a programmable six-legged robot but thanks to Vincross Founder Sun Tianqi, the adorable robot can now ensure plants always receive optimal sunlight. Dubbed the Sharing Human Technology with Plants project, this clever use of the Vincross Hexa was inspired by a sunflower exhibition by Tianqi. In the exhibit, Tianqi noticed dead sunflowers near other blooms and also observed how the plant could have survived if it could move from shade to sun.

To adapt the Vincross Hexa to properly house plants, Tianqi replaced the original shell of the robot with a dual-layer flowerpot large enough to hold a small succulent. The robot is capable of movement and ensuring the plant's survival thanks to a collection of sensors. The robot is even capable of performing a small grumpy dance when the plant needs to be watered.
