Sojourning Artistic Retreats

The Villa Lena is a Utopian Environment for Creative Types

Located in Tuscany, the Villa Lena doubles as a non-profit foundation and artistic utopia. The concept and design was looked after by some of the most esteemed, culturally relevant minds in Paris.

Villa Lena is a 19th century manor of the neo-renaissance period, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, forests and private housing. The interior of each space is simple and unassuming, though everything is of the highest quality. Guests have the privilege of admiring the work of sojourning artists, who are invited for two-month residencies. Beyond the simple act of artistic appreciation, the days are filled with an informal, communal roster of activities geared towards sensory cultivation.

The purpose of the retreat is to nourish individual creative talent, while simultaneously encouraging a dialogue between artists and non-artists. Art director Clarisse Demory explains, "Villa Lena is already a big community and everybody has ideas for the place. It’s like a home and a laboratory for artists and friends."
