London-based designers have created a prototype coffee cart called the Velopresso that is powered via the on-board pedals. The innovative design utilizes bike pedals to propel the cart forward or aid in the making of an espresso, latte or cappuccino.
Designers of the Velopresso, Amos Field Reid and Lasse Oiva, are graduates of the Royal College of Art and have received an award from Deutsche Bank for their design which has boosted their ability to continue working on the concept cart.
While the pedal-powered Velopresso cart can help move the cart or grind coffee beans, water is heated by a gas-powered canister for seamless production. However, the design duo are working on greener alternatives for their design to make future carts emission-free and broaden the range of products they can offer.
