Pain Prevention Sensors

The Valedo Sensors Focus on Alleviating Lower Back Pain

Swiss medical technology company Hocoma introduced its latest device, the 'Valedo,' at the CES 2015. The device is dedicated to preventing and/or reducing a very common ailment that plagues many of us: lower back pain.

The sensors attach to the wearer's lower back and upper chest using medical-quality double-sided tape. The sensors use Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to the Valedo app on the user's smartphone, which run them through exercises designed to improve, manage and diminish existing pain, or prevent oncoming pain. The app also collects data, allowing wearer's to keep track of their progress.

To achieve the comprehensive 3D perspective (which depicts the wearer's motion across nine different vector movements), the device is outfitted with an accelerometer, magnetometer and gyrometer.
